Small’s Pizza at Springdale General
Tucked into Building 1 at Springdale General, Small’s Pizza brings a distinctly New Haven-style approach to East Austin. Known for its crisp, charred crust and simple, high-quality ingredients, Small’s has quickly become a reliable stop for slices and weekend bagels.
Owner Kelsey Small grew up just outside of New Haven, Connecticut, where that style of pizza is a point of pride. After moving to Austin in 2013, he began working at Franklin Barbecue before transitioning into the city’s pizza scene at Bufalina. His time there led to the Executive Chef role at Bufalina Due in 2019, where he refined his approach to dough, fermentation, and wood-fired technique.
In 2021, Small launched Small’s Pizza as a pop-up, building a following across Austin. That momentum led to a permanent home brick-and-mortar at Springdale General, where Small’s now operates daily out of Building 1 alongside neighbors like Uroko, Medici Roasting, and Front Page Pub. Small’s Pizza contributes to a food court that reflects the broader Springdale community: locally rooted, independent, and centered amongst an arts community in central east Austin.
In addition to pizza, Small’s offers small-batch bagels on weekends, baked fresh each morning and available while they last from 9am - noon - 1023 Springdale Rd.
Order in-person and enjoy your pizza or bagels to-go, indoors in the food court or on the covered patio at Springdale General - and give Small’s Pizza a follow to stay in touch and learn about specials and upcoming events: @smallspizza
