Artist Spotlight: RF. Alvarez at Springdale General

RF. Alvarez is an Austin-based figurative painter whose work has shown in London, New York, and Los Angeles. We’re lucky to have him in the Springdale General community, tucked between Roommate Collective and Clover and Maven. Born in San Antonio with family roots across Texas and Mexico, Alvarez paints nocturnal scenes of queer joy, friendship, and tenderness on raw linen using a dry-brush technique. His work has been featured in T Magazine and Texas Monthly, and is represented by Megan Mulrooney Gallery, with recent appearances at the Armory Art Fair and NADA Miami.
